Doping Control Officer Training Underway in Georgia within the CEADO Mentorship Programme
To promote clean sport and strengthen Georgia’s doping control system, representatives of the Polish Anti-Doping Agency (POLADA) are visiting Georgia with the support of the Central European Anti-Doping Organization (CEADO).
The visit is taking place within the framework of the CEADO Mentorship Programme and aims to strengthen the institutional and professional capacity of the Georgian Anti-Doping Control and Education Agency.
As part of the programme, specialised training is being delivered to Doping Control Officers (DCOs) and Blood Collection Officers (BCOs) by experienced POLADA experts Olha Zavhorodnya and Łukasz Krych.
Twelve Doping Control and Blood Collection Officers are participating in the training, which combines theoretical and practical components, including:
Athlete notification and identification procedures;
International requirements for urine and blood sample collection;
Accurate completion of doping control documentation;
Ensuring sample integrity, security and traceability;
Protecting athletes’ rights and confidentiality;
Managing potential deviations and non-standard situations;
Secure sample sealing, storage and transportation procedures.
Particular emphasis is placed on practical exercises simulating real-life working conditions. These activities enable participants to develop the skills required to conduct the doping control process independently, consistently and in accordance with international standards.
The training aims to strengthen participants’ professional knowledge and practical competencies in line with the World Anti-Doping Code and WADA’s International Standard for Testing and Investigations. As a result, Georgia will have a stronger team of qualified officers capable of conducting doping control procedures objectively, securely and effectively throughout the country.
Cooperation between the Georgian Anti-Doping Control and Education Agency and POLADA represents an important step towards establishing an effective and reliable national anti-doping system, protecting athletes’ rights and promoting a clean and fair sporting environment in Georgia.
